Las plantas medicinales tienen un 30 % de preferencia entre los españoles, según un estudio hecho por profesionales del área de la salud en aquél país. El mismo estudio constató que el grado de satisfacción de los consumiodres de las plantas es alto, y que un 10 % de ellos las consume por prescripción médica, lo que nos parece bajo. Ha ocurrido un alto procesamiento de las plantas medicinales por parte de la industria, y es algo que ayuda a que las mismas resulten menos provocadoras de efectos indeseables, pues la dosificación de las mismas permite un buen control sobre la cantidad ingerida por los pacientes.
El futuro de la medicina naturista es muy prometedor, según nos parece, y eso se debe a las grandes ventajas que tiene sobre la farmacia basada en químicos, la cual resulta cada vez más costosa y nociva, así como menos efectiva debido a la complejidad de las enfermedades en un medio ambiental como el que nos rodea en estos tiempos de gran contaminación y a la baja calidad de los alimentos que consumimos, lo cual influye bastante en la respuesta a un medicamento no natural.
